MOTUL AND ALL LOVERS OF VINTAGE CARS: SHARE THE SAME PASSION !
Passion is an integral part of the culture of a company whose brand name celebrated its 160th anniversary in 2013. Motul was born with the industrial revolution and has since continued to innovate in many sectors of the industry. The first multi-grade lubricant in 1953, the first multi-grade semi- synthetic lubricant in 1966, the first multi-grade 100% synthetic lubricant in 1971.
A specialist unanimously recognised for its expertise in the lubricants sector, Motul is involved at the highest level of competition in partnership with many car and motorcycle manufacturers. More than 50 World Champion titles crown this passion and commitment.
This experience and technological expertise guarantee the performance of Motul lubricants. Indeed, while the performance of modern lubricants has been considerably improved, their composition, and in particular the additives that go into their formulation, are not suitable for certain conventional engines whose design (metallurgy, technologies, choice of materials, in particular for joints, larger operating sets …) and the operating constraints are very different from modern engines.
The particularities of old engines require suitable lubricants. Motul’s range for historic vehicles has been designed with respect for vintage technologies, appealing when necessary to recent techniques that provide a real benefit (such as the detergent of the 20W50). The Motul range offers optimum protection and offers solutions that are suitable for all types of use: from vehicles with very little running time to those used in competition and requiring full mechanics.
QUALITY AT THE HEART OF THE CORPORATE CULTURE
FROM A QUALITY PRODUCT TO A QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
Motul’s product culture, deeply rooted in its history through a constant search for an ever more innovative, efficient and effective lubricant, naturally led the company to adopt the principles a quality managerial system. The organisation put in place, allows the customer’s expectations to be respected and even anticipated by adopting a structured and pragmatic approach to achieve maximum efficiency by meeting internationally recognised quality requirements criteria. Motul is certified ISO 9001: 2008, ISO 14001: 2004 and TS16949: 2009.
ORGANISATION BY MACRO-PROCESS. Motul has built a customer-focused organisation focusing around 6 macro-processes of the company. This organisation, which is adapted to the Group’s international development ambition, favours networking and optimises the time and quality of product development.
LISTENING TO CUSTOMERS AND THE MARKET
Based on its values of High Technology, Expertise, Authenticity and Commitment, Motul’s culture is shared at all levels by its staff who convey their pride of belonging, with a keen sense of customer satisfaction and respect for partners. To maintain its lead and its privileged position in highly competitive and changing markets, Motul has developed and implemented specific tools, devoting significant resources to customer listening, market needs, technology watch or even sharing information within the Group, in particular through its Center of Excellence.
CONFIDENCE AND DEMAND WITH PARTNERS
Thanks to long-term relationships of trust, Motul completes its system by favouring partnerships with suppliers and service providers who share their experiences and know-how in the context of particular projects or more. simply everyday. The Motul Group selects its suppliers by formally certifying them, to ensure that they respect at least the quality standards that it imposes itself and, in the most critical cases, that they evolve their processes and systems to ensure the expected results.
The relationships maintained by the Group with its partners are long-term, which enables teams to concentrate on the essentials: the solutions and the added value provided to the end-users of the products.
CERTIFIED ACCORDING TO THE MOST DEMANDING QUALITY REFERENTIALS
For Motul, committed since the 1980s to the process of formalising quality requirements through national certifications such as the British Standard, international quality organisation models quickly became not only need but especially as an asset. Privileged partner of the automotive industry, Motul implements the demanding quality standards of major manufacturers by obtaining in February 1990 its first qualification EAQF *, then ISO 9001 from June 1996, QS 9000 * in October 1999 and ISO TS 16949 * since June 2002. These certifications are maintained and systematically monitored every six months by a leading international organisation (Lloyds Register Quality Assurance Limited – LRQA) and renewed every three years.
(*) EAQF: Quality Standard for European Automobile Manufacturers QS 9000: Quality Reference for American Automobile Manufacturers TS 16949: International reference harmonising the requirements of all car manufacturersMASTERY OF DESIGNMotul products have been recognised for many years for their high quality and exceptional performance: mastery of design, development and production processes are the keys to such success. Beyond the significant investments made to keep the laboratories and the production site at a high level of performance and in constant improvement, Motul products are subject to rigorous controls at each stage of their life cycle, from their development, but also during the different phases of their manufacture. Thus products are controlled not only during formulation, mixing and packaging operations, but also regularly sampled and analysed at all stages of their dissemination (storage, distribution, point of sale).
TOTAL PRODUCT TRACEABILITY
In order to guarantee the safety of the products, a total and reversible traceability system is ensured at the various stages of their development and distribution. The results of each control are recorded, recorded and can be consulted at any time.
Accurate coding is included on each package, allowing the products to be traced and to know quickly the dates, places and conditions of manufacture.
Thousands of samples of manufactured references are kept to track their quality over time and answer any future questions. These controls ensure the irreproachable quality of the products and make it possible to permanently improve the processes and the formulations, but also to take into account the evolutions of the market constraints like the new behaviours or needs of the users.
